AP new - synopsis.jpg
At a boxing gym in Chicago, Mary Monahan accidentally knocks out the most handsome man she’s ever met. After she wakes him up with a few slaps and some smelling salts, the very first thing he does is ask her out for ribs and beer. His name is Jimmy. He looks like a Gillette model. And he’s just too hunky to resist.

Jimmy “The Falcon” Falconi is mystified that Mary has absolutely no idea who he is. Mystified and refreshed. He is, after all, not your everyday NFL quarterback. He shops at Costco, has a soft spot for Pinterest, and is in the midst of an epic losing streak.

Jimmy falls for Mary fast and hard, the way he does everything—balls out and like it’s fourth and long. And he realizes he’s finally met his match. That stamina he’s so proud of? Doesn’t stand a chance against her Kegels.

But what they don’t know is she’s also his new physical therapist, recently hired by the Bears to work on his rotator cuff…and groin injury. If she can’t help him, he’ll be traded faster than they can say “offensive penetration.”

In spite of the thousands of internet memes featuring Jimmy’s face with captions like: “HEY GIRL, WANT TO TOUCH MY BALLS?” Mary finds herself falling for him and his unrelenting desire to make her his.

Until a toddler shows up at Jimmy’s door.

And throws their lives into total chaos.

▬▬▬▬ F*CKING AWKWARD HOLIDAYS ▬▬▬▬

► #BOOKTRAILER ►http://bit.ly/2ehJfg0
Holidays conjure up many thoughts- long, chilly nights, snuggled up by the fire, bare feet tucked under the one you love. Some are hallmarks of summer when skin is warmed by more than the sun. There is the after Thanksgiving dinner nightcap, as the smooth, sultry burn of whiskey warms your chest, rendering your limbs heavy or include lazy kisses and wandering hands beneath your best dress on a romantic Valentine’s Day date.
But sometimes, Grandma gets boozed up and passes out at the table, your brother gets caught rubbing one out under the fireworks, your kids catch mommy kissing Santa (and not on the lips), your special new toy winds up in the wrong gift bag, a goat steals and wears your sexy new thong and watching the ball drop takes on a whole new meaning.
In other words, the holidays can be magical, but sometimes, they’re also just f*cking awkward.

 Wenn's Review

Dear Prescott,

I’ve once received a message on my blog page from an author I must admit I had never heard of. This message was kind and sweet, just like you are.

I read the blurb and thought, “Damn, this book sounds amazing.” And I was right, this book was amazing. It quickly became one of my favorite books of 2015.
And since then, I want every one to read and experience what I feel when I read your books. We are now approaching the end of 2016, and I’ve read and loved all your books. But this one…. This one was amazing. The Reason For Me was so powerful it hurt. It shattered my heart in millions tiny pieces. Holt and Annalyse, chapter by chapter, tried to fix it, soothe it. But that was short lived, the next chapter unstitched the fragile threads that hold it together, to then start to heal it slowly… and crack it right back open.

It was heartbreaking, exhausting and so worthy.     SO WORTHY.

It is a life lesson, it is inspirational, just like every book you have written.

I am so in love with this hilarious couple, these characters that are so real, they are flawed, they are sometimes a bit slow ( nudge, nudge HOLT), but they are so fucking strong, it is fantastic. I cannot explain how I felt while reading it. You just start it and then, when you finally take that liberating inspiration, you realize you’ve finished it. Your face hurts because you’ve laughed too much and that smile won’t go away, but those tears… are they happy or sad tears? Fuck if I know… I know you promised a happy ever after. And you hold your promise, but why did they have to go through all this pain??? I think I know. They had to, to be able to know what they deserve, have it and CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY.

Annalyse

“You should have on a life jacket.”

“When I kayak or when I ride my motorcycle?” I ask.

He tries not to smile, but he does.  “Pissed, huh?”

“Observant, aren’t you?”

“Motorcyclists are twenty-five percent more likely to die and five times more likely to be injured than a passenger in a car,” he says.

“You looked that up just to lecture me, didn’t you?”

“Not the point,” he says.  “No more motorcycle.”

Did he really think he could go all alpha male on me?  Usually, it would be hot as all-get-out to see a man in control, dominant, but right now alpha equals asshole!   Note to self — I should do a blog post on that.  Where have all the good alphas gone?  “Who do you think you are?” I say, walking away.  “You’re not my husband or my father.  Come to think of it, I wouldn’t let my father or husband order me around like this.”

His fingers lightly touch my elbow.  It isn’t a grab.  I barely feel it, and as quickly as he touched me, it’s over.  “I’m a doctor.  I’ve seen what . . .”

“You’re a gynecologist!  You’ve seen what a motorcycle can do to a vagina?”

Oh God, I’m in trouble.  He’s got the dirtiest look in his eye.  “I’d imagine the vibration would feel pretty damn good.”

I can’t help it and bust out laughing.  “You are impossible.”

“And it’s the law to carry a life vest for every person in a kayak,” he says.
I roll my eyes.  “You like rules.”

“I like order.”

“Ordering people around,” I say.

“Only certain people,” he says.

Don’t ask me why, but the thought of him “ordering” me around made my legs clench together, or maybe it was the mention of vibrations.  Either way, the idea of him taking control of my body didn’t sound bad to me at all.  It would be nice to not think so damn much all the time and just feel something good for a change.

Furious Rush by S.C. Stephens

Too fast, too furious-and way too hot to handle . . .

Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she’s racing against Hayden.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense–and strictly forbidden–attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. Especially when she begins to doubt that Hayden has completely left his street life behind…

Kristys Review (2)3 Stars

Didn’t quite cross the finish line for me.

Three stars is almost generous for me on this one, it’s probably should be a little lower. I wanted to love it, and honestly the plot did pull me along. I had a hard time putting it down, which should sound great right? But I wasn’t really enjoying it, I was waiting for it to deliver on all the promise it had, I was waiting to love it. And at times I thought it was close, but it never got me there.

I never fell for Hayden and I never really believed the chemistry between the main characters or the love story. There wasn’t enough of Hayden on the pages to make me love him. I spent too much time unsure if I could trust him. And Kenzie was not likable for a lot of the book. Just kind of mean for no reason. Without using spoilers it’s hard to say exactly what went wrong, but the major plot points keeping them apart where thin at best, Hayden was TOO mysterious, and several items that needed to be cleared up were left unfinished. Also the end seemed oddly rushed and somewhat incomplete. I’m a huge SC Stephens fan, this one just didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Blurb:

One story. Two couples.
I proposed on our first date.
She laughed and told me I was insane. Less than a day later, she said yes.
It was a whirlwind, but we were happy…

Until we got greedy and wanted a family.

It was a life I couldn’t give her, not for lack of trying. Fertility just wasn’t on our side. We sought out doctors and treatments. Spent money we didn’t have. Lied to our families. Smiled for our friends. Put on a brave face for a world that didn’t understand.

Finally, we were successful…

Until we were forced to bury our son.

We were left broken, battered, and destroyed.
They say love is in the details, but it was the details that ruined us.

This is the story of how I took back what had always been mine.

The retrieval of my wife and our family.

7 (2)Retrieval (The Retrieval Duet Book One)

5 Star Review

Holy. Shit! What did I just read? The moment I finished this book, I promptly messaged Ms. Martinez and GUSHED. I am thoroughly convinced this author is a genius.

As an author myself, I am picky as hell. I don’t try to be, but I think, for me, I know what I put into my own books, so I tend to expect it from other authors. Aly Martinez’s writing is abso-freaking-lutely amazing. I could perfectly envision every single scene as if I were right there with the characters.

And the characters? Relatable and loveable. The struggle of conceiving, the agony of miscarriage after miscarriage, and Roman and Elisabeth’s shared torment was so real. The pain they suffered with the loss of their child was palpable. I could FEEL it. The way in which their marriage ended, and each person’s point of view on the situation, was perfectly executed. Roman’s tenacity when it came to winning Elisabeth back was incredible. I FELT their love and passion for one another. That was what I loved most about Retrieval. Ms. Martinez made me feel everything.

There was not a single word wasted in this story. Each sentence meant something. Every story arc went somewhere. And she intertwined it all with witty humor that often had me laughing aloud.

This was a quick read, which was perfect because I didn’t want to put it down, and when I had to, it was all I could think about!

So much happens in this book. I’m not sure where book two is going to head, but I am counting down the days until it is in my hands.

Five AMAZING stars for me.

retrival-twoTitle: Transfer (The Retrieval Duet Book Two)
Series: The Retrieval Duet
Author: Aly Martinez
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Blurb:

Transfer is book two in The Retrieval Duet. It is not to be read as a standalone.

One story. Two couples.

I fell in love with a man who didn’t exist.

What started out as romance ended in hell.
His words turned to razor blades.
His kisses converted to fists.
His embrace became my cage.
His body transformed into a weapon, stealing parts of me until ultimately….

I broke.
I hated him.

My sole job in life became to protect our daughter.
I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.
Until the day our savior arrived.
This is the story of how I escaped the man who thought he owned me.

The transfer of my life and my family.

7 (2)Transfer is book two in The Retrieval Duet.

4 Star Review

Because this is a duet and the story is not complete until you read both books, it’s hard not to compare book one to book two. Where Retrieval was a phenomenal read for me, if I’m being completely honest, Transfer was a bit of a let down. I think Ms. Martinez set the bar so high with Retrieval I was expecting to be blown away by Transfer. What I got was still a good, entertaining read, but it was not, in my opinion, on par with its predecessor.

Though Heath and Clare were good characters, I didn’t feel the connection I instantly felt with Roman and Elisabeth in book one. But Heath was a sexy alpha male, and I could see how much he cared for Clare, even in such a short amount of time.

Retrieval is beautifully written—the kind of writing that makes you sit back and sigh at its perfection. I forgot I was sitting on my couch reading because Ms. Martinez put me inside the pages with Roman and Elisabeth. That is not what happened with Transfer. It felt a little rushed, full of quick summarizations explaining what happened as opposed to showing us key moments and allowing the reader to get fully pulled into the story. I never felt completely immersed in the book, and man, I really, REALLY wanted to. I loved Retrieval so much, and I set it up high on a pedestal, so I think a lot of my issue was my own expectations. There were still plenty of good things about this book, but that’s the big difference between Retrieval and Transfer for me. One is an epically amazing book, and the other is good. But please don’t get me wrong. This duet is enjoyable and definitely worth your time.

Both books are very quick reads, and you need to read both to have the complete story.

Four stars for me.

Synopsis

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Douglas, comes the latest New Adult romance of love, hate, and everything in between…

“We were perfect together. Until we met.”

Misha

I can’t help but smile at the lyrics in her letter. She misses me.

In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.

It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…

And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.

Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?

Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?

F*ck it. I need to meet her.

I just don’t expect to hate what I find.

Ryen

He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.

Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his phone number or picture or something.

He could be gone forever.

Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.

*Punk 57 is a stand alone New Adult romance. It is suitable for ages 18+.

Kristys Review (2)4 1_2 Star ReviewWhen a Penelope Douglas book hits my kindle I’m like a kid on Christmas morning….excited, impatient and a little worried that I might be disappointed. Luckily this author NEVER disappoints.  I could not put this book down, I just wanted real life to disappear so I sink into this world and never come out. It had everything I love in a book: angst, humor, emotion, passion and that sense that something big is just around the corner.

I loved Misha, he was messed up perfection. He was the good guy wrapped in the bad boy tattoos. He was sweet and sour and salty in all of the best ways. Ryen was a more challenging character to fall for. She was everything I loved and hated about high school. Somehow she was the girl you hated and the girl you were all rolled up together. She was a character very few writers could pull off properly and Penelope hit the mark perfectly.  And once again, Penelope writes a book about high school characters that are perfectly teenage, yet completely relatable to readers of any age. OH…

And this book was smoking hot too.

The one and only reason this book wasn’t a 5 star read of me was that the ending came a little too quickly. I love resolution in the books I read, but I thought maybe the last 1/4 of the book threw a little too much at me too fast. I guess I just wanted time to savor some of the resolutions a little bit more.

I would say the true test of a book is how long it stays with you after you turn the last page. This book has not left the front of my kindle carousel. I have gone back and read passage after passage. I’ve look up scenes, bookmarked and highlighted. Like everything Penelope Douglas writes, I will read this over and over and then buy the audiobook when it comes out so I can listen to it too!!!

Holt

I can see the questions in her eyes.  Naked, I get on my knees in the bed, helping her up, her body pressing into mine, and lift her shirt over her head.  I can’t help but grin that she’s borrowed one of mine.  My hands slide down the curve of her waist and under the cotton of her panties, removing them.  Her hand softly strokes my cheek, and like an asshole, I jerk my head back, her soft touch doing damage to the hard defenses I’ve built.  How is that?  How can something so soft, so sweet, be my undoing?  And damn, the way she looks at me.  I can’t have her looking at me like that right now.  In one move, I flip her over and yank her ass in the air.

Her breath catches.  Dammit, sometimes I wish I could be one of those guys that only think about themselves during sex, but I’m not built that way.  Annalyse’s pleasure will always be more important than my own, and that’s just one small fucking step away from all her needs coming before my own.  It’s a slippery slope I’m on.

Using the tip of my cock, I outline her folds, feeling her open, drawing me in.  Running my finger down the curve of her back, her body rolls, her ass pushing against me.  She’s got the best ass, pure white, smooth skin, firm, but enough to hold onto.

“Holt,” she begs softly.

She’s very impatient when it comes to her orgasms.  That’s a great quality in a woman; she wants what she wants and doesn’t apologize for it.  As I slip myself inside her, she lets out a breathless moan.  It’s amazing how well I know her sounds, her body already.  Holding her hips, I slide in and out, slowly.  Grinning, I know she’s going to hate and love that at the same time.  She likes to come quickly.  It’s almost like she’s afraid there’s not enough time.  She starts to move faster, wanting me deeper, and harder.  And I’m powerless to resist her, incapable of not giving her exactly what she wants.
And when she screams out my name, I follow right behind her.  My body covers hers as we lay collapsed in our orgasmic hangover.  Moving her hair off her face, I look down at her closed eyes, missing seeing the way she looks when she comes.  “Every night,” I say quietly, “I want you in my bed, naked, waiting.”

She doesn’t open her eyes, but a little smirk crosses her lips.  “Orders, orders.”

Kissing her neck, I nibble her earlobe.  “Say you’ll be here.”  She rolls over, her eyes meeting mine for the first time.  A subtle guilt rises in my chest; I just fucked her to feel better, to forget.  And I want to do it again.

Royally Screwed by Emma Chase

royally-screwed-for-webEmma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series & Legal Briefs Series, returns with the first of three sizzling standalone books about a family of racy, irresistible Royals.

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness”, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant—hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

***

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately—the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia—Nicholas is worth it.

***

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is, but more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

“I have a plan.”

We’re in the library of the suite. Nicholas is behind the desk, his hair falling still damp over his forehead from a recent shower, while James and Tommy stand near the windows.

“Take off your clothes,” I say, dropping a stuffed backpack at my feet.

He stands, giving me a curious, dimple-flashing smile that makes my stomach tingle.

“I like this plan.”

He pulls his shirt over his head—and at the sight of that gorgeous chest and ripped abs, I have to close my mouth to stop the flow of drool.

“Should I send the lads to their room?” he asks.

I toss him a Beastie Boys T-shirt and ripped jeans from the backpack. “They can stay—I’ll get to them in a second.”

Nicholas puts on the outfit, his disguise for the day. I hold up a thick gold chain with a dangling cross, and he dips his head so I can loop it over his neck. Then I squirt gel into my hand and reach up on tiptoes to rub it through his hair—mussing it at the top and slicking the sides.

Perfect.

“Do you know how to drive a motorcycle?”

“Yes.”

“Excellent.” I pull a helmet with a full, tinted face shield out of the backpack and hold it up. “Marty’s bike is downstairs. He said to tell you: break it, you bought…a Ducati.”

Logan steps into the room from where he was stationed just outside the door, lifting his hand, like a traffic cop. “Hold on, now—”

Nicholas takes the helmet. “It’ll be fine, Logan.”

“And,” I say cautiously, turning to the three big, strong, probably-have-a-license-to-kill boys. “I want Nicholas and me to go on this outing alone. You guys stay here.”

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph.” Tommy says.

James makes the sign of the cross.

Logan takes another route. “No fuckin’ way. Not possible.”

But the look on Nicholas’s face says it’s definitely possible.

“No,” Logan insists again, his voice straining with a faint hint of desperation.

“I have an itinerary.” I take the sealed envelope out of the backpack and hand it to Logan. “I wrote everything down for you, just in case—exactly where we’ll be, every minute.” When he starts to tear it open I put my hand on his. “You can’t open it until after we’re gone—it’ll ruin the surprise. But I promise it will be all right. I swear on my life.”

My eyes drift from Logan to Nicholas. “Trust me.”

And I want him to—so much. I want to do this for him, give him something he hasn’t had. Something he’ll remember always: freedom.

Nicholas looks at the helmet, then at Logan. “What’s the worst that could happen?”

“Ah…you could get assassinated and the three of us will hang for treason.”

“Don’t be silly,” Nicholas scoffs. “We haven’t hung anyone in years.” He smacks Logan’s back. “It’d be the firing squad.”

Confessed by NICOLA RENDELL – Guest review –

So you all know I loved Confessed, it was a 6 stars read for me. One of my favourite books EVER.

My person read it too and loved it. So naturally I asked her if she wanted to review it for the blog.

Here it is, Courtney ‘s review of CONFESSED !

Confessed by Nicola Rendell

http://amzn.to/2doXT6P

I must confess Nicola Rendell, made me a complete mess after reading her newest novel Confessed!
Book hangover doesn’t even begin to describe what happened to me. I finished Lucy and Vince’s story back on August 23. I have since read the book 2 more times, because, I could not get enough of these two!
Lucy and Vince hold such a special place in my heart, that, I have chosen to not pick up another book
because, I feel like I’m cheating on them!

We met the wonderful care-free, fun loving, Lucy in Nicola’s first novel Professed. I actually remember emailing Nicola and telling her I had to have Lucy’s story, I needed to know what happened to her. Lucy quickly became one of my favorite secondary characters, so it only made sense that I needed to know where she ended up!

Nicola did something ballsy with her male lead, Vince Russo. Something I haven’t seen very many authors do. I’m not giving anything away, you have to read Confessed for yourself to find out exactly what I mean. What I can say is Vince Russo is probably one of the most perfectly flawed characters I have ever had the honor of reading.

This is easily the best book of 2016, everything you want in a book is there.
The writing is flawless, the plot is daring and ballsy, as all get out, and the Chemistry between Lucy and Vince is HOT!
Hot doesn’t even begin to describe what goes on between these two. I am actually pretty envious of their chemistry and compatibility (I know I know they’re totally fictional characters Courtney)

Rendell made me laugh and cry, I was ecstatic, sad, overwhelmed and by the end of the novel it was so bittersweet.
I was in such a euphoric state, but, the story ended and I wasn’t ready for that. I wanted more. I craved more from these two characters. That isn’t something that happens to me often, especially, when a novel leaves me completely satisfied.

I’ve said it in my review of Professed and I will say it again, Nicola Rendell, has easily become a favorite author of mine, and she is on my insta-buy list! I will buy and read anything this woman writes!

Kristys Review (2)4 Star ReviewI love this series, I recommend it all the time. And I was waiting for Jett’s story from the very moment I met him. This book got me right back into it. I loved seeing some of the events from the previous books from a different point of view. And it takes a lot of skill to write about things we know and still make it feel fresh and new. M.Never nails it. I loved getting to know who Jett was and how he became that man. However, I was even more enamored with London than I was with Jett in this book. She was freaking fascinating and her story was just heartbreaking and amazing. I adored her and her relationship with Jett was so intense.

This story is full of surprising twists and turns. Things I never saw coming, and I love that in a book. Predictable is boring, and this book is neither.  It  just missed being a five star read for me, though. My reviews are always spoiler free, so I can only say that there was one thing in this book that didn’t work for me. One of the characters had a surprising reaction to a bit of information that was revealed and I just wasn’t convinced that the reaction was true to character. It would have worked better for me if that particular plot line had gone a different way.

That aside, people who love Jett will not be disappointed, people who want to love London will be ecstatic. Definitely a great addition to the Decadence After Dark Series. I hope there is more to come.
